The Twelve Dates of Christmas

Since this is holiday time, I thought it would be good to suggest twelve Christmas-y dates that would be romantic during this holiday season.  And all this from a nice Jewish Girl!

These are Manhattan date suggestions but it would be fairly easy to think of a local equivalent so it should get your wheels turning about possibilities.

 1.  Go to Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree all lit up.  Buy some chestnuts and later get some late night coffee and dessert while you chat.

2. Go to Serendipity and try their frozen hot chocolate.  If you’re not in Manhattan, find out what place in your area serves decadent hot cocco and go there.

3. Find out where there is free Christmas carrolling and join that group serenading your neighborhood.  For the more inhibited big spender version, go see The Messiah or a gospel choir belt them out.

4. Take your date to see Santa.  Take a picture of both of you sitting on his lap (for a memory) and listen up as she tells Santa what she wants this year.

5. Go to a romantic candle-lit restaurant like ‘Two If By Sea’ in Manhattan, where they have a piano bar.  You can go for brunch too (which is cheaper).

6. Take your date karaoke-ing and belt out some Christmas songs together while downing a few beers.  Better yet, get some warm Woodpecker cider.

7. Go iceskating in Wolman rink or for free in Bryant park.  Hold hands as you skate.  You can even request a song for her some places.

8. Go window shopping and see all the terrific holiday window displays.  Talk about what you would buy yourself for Christmas if you were really rich.

9. Decorate the tree at your house together and play holiday music while serving eggnog.  This way you get something practical done while having some holiday fun with your new special someone.

10. For a special treat go see The Nutcracker or the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

11. Go somewhere beautiful that has lots of lights like the New York Botanical Gardens.  Also certain areas can be great places to go to see the lit up houses with their holiday decorations, like Dyker Heights in Brooklyn.  There may be an equivalent in your home town.

12.  Go to the Grand Central Terminal for lunch and catch their free holiday light show.

…And a partridge in a pear tree.

Let me know which dates went over well.
